Fade In.
INT. SCENE 1 ROYAL PALACE – EARLY MORNING
Lorenz crosses the inner lobby and enters the grand arched doorways of the main palace building. He strides the long corridor towards two large wooden doors. He opens the doors and steps through to see Sira, dressed in her regal gowns standing by her council chair. Lorenz enters, closing the doors after him.
LORENZ
My Queen, I must protest about taking this trip to Ostund land. What is the need for it? There is no threat to you there, nor does it support any population worth mentioning.
SIRA
That we know of? Lorenz, we know so little about the Northern Province. Even Cauper, the most well versed historian in the kingdom who is an ageing man has no knowledge of it. It is time that province is investigated and forms part of the Kingdom of Malaar officially and not just some blurred lines on a map with no one really sure where the northern reaches of the kingdom are. We shall redefine the Kingdom’s borders.
LORENZ
But is it wise to go now when there might be a possible threat of a rebel attack?
SIRA
Did you not tell me yourself that no such threat has been discovered? We did encounter the small band of outlaws led by Barton Malor, however, we have Marcus Ward, his second in command in our dungeons ready for hanging. I calculate that we shall have returned long before the hanging.
LORENZ
But we could send a group to explore, map and report back.
SIRA
Do not try and talk me out of this trip. I intend to go and see the Riarc Mountain range for myself unless of course, the mighty head of my palace army is afraid of running into the Salic Sisters?
LORENZ
Witches do not scare me.
SIRA
We ride tomorrow at dawn.
Lorenz bows and exits the council chamber. A cloaked figure looms into view on the opposite side of the council chamber. Sira steps backward.
SIRA
Who are you?
High Ducess Soulep reveals herself.
INT. SCENE 2 PALACE LIVING QUARTERS – EARLY MORNING
Marget paces the room. A knock is heard at the door and Marget rushes to it. Opening it, SAM (24) her private soldier enters.
