S1 Ep2

Characters

Sira Galor, Malic Ward, Barton Malor, Lorenz Calis, Marget Galor, with Soulep and Rubella

Fade In.

INT. SCENE 1 PALACE COUNCIL CHAMBER – NIGHT

Sira storms into the council chamber.  Lorenz stands on her entrance.

SIRA

What news do you have that is so urgent that needs my attention at this hour of the night?

LORENZ

We ran into some trouble in a small village on the border between Wesser and Metag.

SIRA

What kind of trouble?

LORENZ

A mercenary army, led by Barton Malor.

Sira moves to the large council chamber and slams her hands onto its surface.

SIRA

Barton Malor! I have heard of that name. He is an outlaw to watch for.  Do we not have him under constant surveillance?

LORENZ

We do your majesty.

Sira moves towards Lorenz, standing before him.  Sira strikes Lorenz across the right jaw. Lorenz winces in return.

SIRA

(Shouts)

How did you let an outlaw and his rebel forces get undetected and so close to the province of Metag?

LORENZ

I cannot answer how they escaped our attention.  We have routine patrols running through all the province boundaries. They should not have gone undetected.

SIRA

I know how it could have happened.  There is a traitor within the palace army.

Sira paces back and forth with her arms swinging.  She turns to Lorenz.

SIRA

Have my horse and weapons ready.  At dawn, we ride out and meet Barton Malor head on.  Bring a small contingent of men. I want each of their heads mounted on poles leading to the palace gates as a warning to others who might think of trying to oppose me.

LORENZ

Yes, your majesty.

Sira storms out of the council chamber.

EXT. SCENE 2 PALACE COURTYARD – DAYBREAK

Sira exits the palace and into the inner courtyard.  Sira is now dressed in her armour clothes decorated in various weapons with two swords on her back.  She mounts her white stallion.  Sira turns to the group of men waiting on her.

SIRA

Today, we come back with bodies.

(Shouts)

SIRA

Open the gates!

Sira leads, galloping out of the inner palace courtyard with her men following. Marget observes from the third floor of the palace.

EXT. SCENE 3 CAMP SITE – MORNING

Barton surveys the camp and his army.  Marcus who is standing a little distance away sights Malic and moves towards him.  Marcus sits next to Malic.

MARCUS

How are you holding up my boy?

MALIC

Father, what if we cannot stop Sira Galor?

MARCUS

If we cannot stop her this time, there will be a next.  The reign of the Galor’s must stop.  It must end with the death of Sebastian.

Marcus places his hand on Malic’s shoulder.

MARCUS

Do not worry my boy.  The gods will put things right.

A shout is heard in the distance.  Marcus and Malic stand and move towards Barton.

BARTON

Word must have reached Sira.  The palace army is on the approach.

MALIC

Is the Queen present?

BARTON

No, only when the palace flag is flying is a monarch present.

Barton shouts in the direction of the army around him.

BARTON

Clear up.

Barton faces Marcus.

BARTON

We have a short time before we have company.  You know the drill.  We will fall back into the trees where we will have the advantage over them.

EXT. SHORT DISTANCE FROM CAMPSITE.

Sira brings her group to a stop.  She surveys the scene before her.

SIRA

Lorenz, send in the first group to flush them out of the trees.

LORENZ

Where are you going?

SIRA

Do not worry about me.  Just ensure you do not go back to the palace empty-handed this time.

Grabbing her reins, Sira gallops up the slope towards the forest.

EXT. CAMPSITE

Barton and Marcus along with their army rush out from the trees onto Lorenz and his approaching soldiers.  Barton lashes with his sword, fighting every man that comes near him.  Malic swings his sword as men charge in every direction around him.  Malic is struck and falls to the ground. The palace soldier stands over Malic and raises his sword.  Malic rolls out the way, as the sword strikes the earth.  Malic leaps upwards, driving his sword into the man’s back.  Malic grabs his arm as blood oozes through his fingers. Moving backward, Malic sinks into the darkness of the trees.

Sira dismounts and walks through the forest into a clearway.  A rustle is heard to her right.  A warrior rushes at her from behind.  Remaining still she waits until he is within distance.  She summersaults kicking the warrior forward on the way down.  The warrior turns to face her.  Sira grabs his arm and kicks upwards striking the face.  Removing a knife from her right boot, she slices his throat.  The warrior falls to the ground.  Glancing around Sira suddenly drops on her right knee on sighting Malic in the nearby undergrowth.  Sira follows him.

Malic moves forward and enters a small wooden hut.  A mist forms within the darkness of the trees.  Malic sits on a wooden bench placing his sword on the floor.  The hut door bursts open and Sira has her sword at Malic’s throat.

SIRA

What do we have here?

Beads of sweat trickle down Malic’s forehead.  For a moment Sira and Malic lock eyes until Sira notices his arm.

SIRA

You are cut. Let me help you.

Sira puts her sword into its sheath.

SIRA

Take off your shirt.

Malic takes off his shirt.

MALIC

Who are you? I have never seen a warrior as beautiful as you before. Are you one of the palace army?

SIRA

No. I am an outlaw surviving out here on my own. My parents fled from the palace army many years ago.  I have been trained in nothing else all my life except warfare.  How about you? What is your story?

MALIC

I have never known anything else but to be in constant fear and waiting for palace attacks.

Sira and Malic look at each other.  Their eyes lock once more. Sira smiles and returns to the cleaning his wound. She rips part of Malic’s shirt and wraps it around his arm.

MALIC

I too am an outlaw trained to defend.

SIRA

We are of one kind you and I.

Sira places her hands on his chest and moves them onto his shoulders and down his arms.  She leans in, kissing him.  Sira’s face touches his.

SIRA

I cannot describe this feeling but I feel drawn to you. Take me now and we can go our separate ways and never speak of this again.

MALIC

Join forces with us.  We could use skilled warriors.

SIRA

I work alone but I will consider your offer.

Sira takes Malic by the arms and she lies on the floor.  She pulls him on top of her, kissing him.

EXT. SCENE 4 HUT IN THE WOODS – DAWN

The MORNING MIST continues to engulf the cabin.  A cloaked figure fades into view, standing, observing the HUT.

INT. HUT IN WOODS

Sira jumps upwards.  She glances at Malic lying next to her. An external noise brings her attention to the small WINDOW to the side of the hut. Standing she pulls on her clothes and fixes her weapons.

MALIC

Are you going somewhere?

Malic sits, pulling his clothes to him.  Sira kneels next to him and places a kiss on his lips.

SIRA

My sweet warrior our night between us will remain a memory for the rest of my life. You are a tender lover.

MALIC

Do not leave me. Please stay.

SIRA

As much as I would love to, I can’t.  You have touched my heart that I never thought possible. Each time I stare into your eyes it is like I am floating and yet in a strange way it causes conflict. I do not understand these feelings.

Sira stands.

SIRA

Maybe I will see you around.

Sira moves to the door and glances once more at Malic before departing the hut.  Malic lies back onto the floor and smiles.

EXT. HUT IN WOODS

Sira enters the fog and spies a shadow in front of her.  She stops, withdrawing the sword. The figure vanishes. Sira cautiously moves forward.  She stops.  A black gloved hand caresses her neck and she falls forward.

EXT. SCENE 5 REBEL CAMP – MORNING

Barton exits the main tent and surveys the men packing up. Barton walks towards his horse and prepares his saddle bag.

MALIC

Father, Father!

Barton faces the trees to his left and sights Malic exiting from them.

BARTON

Malic, my boy where were you?  I thought I had lost you.

Barton takes hold of Malic by his two shoulders.

BARTON

What happened?

MALIC

During the fighting yesterday, I got injured and retreated into the woods and I met this beautiful young warrior woman who cleaned and fixed my wound. Where is father?

BARTON

Come let us sit for a minute.

Barton moves towards a log and they both sit.

BARTON

I am sorry Malic, but Marcus was taken by Lorenz and his men.  He will be taken to the palace in Enegue and his fate will probably be a public hanging for being an outlaw and causing an uprising against the monarchy.

MALIC

We must ride out to Enegue and rescue my father.

BARTON

We will but first we must regroup and meet another contingent of our uprising on the northern borders of Metag.  From there we will ride directly to the palace.  If Sira is continuing her mission of attacking villages around the borders of Metag, it will leave her palace army depleted.  That is when we need to attack Enegue, take the palace and free Marcus.

Barton squeezes Malic’s right shoulder who nods in return.

EXT. SCENE 6 OSTUND LAND BORDER – AFTERNOON

Sira opens her eyes.  Her legs and hands are bound.  She scans her surroundings to see she is in a cavern lit by CANDLES.  A cloaked hooded figure comes into view.  The hood is removed to reveal Soulep. Soulep moves towards her.

SIRA

Who are you? Not even the best trained soldiers can creep up on me and take me captive.

SOULEP

I am not a soldier.  I am the High Ducess of War and with my sister Rubella, the High Ducess of Wisdom we live in the region you refer to as the Riarc Mountains.

SIRA

The Salic Sisters! You actually exist, who would have thought!

SOULEP

People refer to us as the Salic Sisters, for what reason, I do not know.  We come from a race known as the Korninti people, the gods that monitor all worlds. This world you live in is of mere mortals whose only wish is to satisfy their lustful ways of greed and power.

SIRA

You are a god! What do you want from me?

SOULEP

My sister and I believe that you are destined to be a leader among the people of this kingdom. You have what it takes to lead the armies against what will come. I am a battle goddess and I will always be by your side.

SIRA

I am the queen of this kingdom and if you were really a goddess, you would already know I lead its armies and its people.

Soulep steps closer and places her hand gently onto Sira’s left jaw.

SOULEP

My dear Sira.  Your journey has not even started. For you to become a great leader, you must first be broken. Now you will sleep.  When you awaken, you will be in your palace chambers.

Sira’s head falls forwards. Rubella steps into view and stands next to Soulep.

RUBELLA

It is time for Barton Malor to lead his armies towards her palace in the capital city. She is strong but will become much stronger.

Rubella and Soulep disappear into the darkness of the cavern.

Fade Out.
